Getting to know TapPark
What is TapPark?
TapPark is a modern parking payment solution that lets drivers pay for parking in seconds using a QR code or an NFC tag placed at a parking location. There is no app to download and no account to create before paying.
Operators place TapPark signage or stickers across their sites. When a driver scans the QR code or taps the NFC tag with their smartphone, a secure mobile payment page opens instantly, preloaded with the correct location details.
Who is TapPark designed for?
TapPark is built for parking operators of every size, including hospitals, universities, property management companies, retail parks, private operators and local authorities. Any organisation that manages paid parking and wants to reduce friction for its customers can use TapPark.
Do drivers need to download an app?
No. That is the core benefit of TapPark. QR code scanning and NFC are already built into every modern smartphone, so a driver simply scans or taps and pays through their web browser. There is nothing to install and no account to set up before making a payment.
How is TapPark different from traditional parking apps?
Traditional parking apps ask drivers to find the right app, download it, create an account, verify their email and enter a long location code before they can pay. Each step is an opportunity for a customer to give up.
TapPark removes those steps. A driver scans a QR code or taps an NFC tag, sees the payment page immediately and completes payment with Apple Pay, Google Pay or card in just a few taps.
For parking operators
How do we get started with TapPark?
The first step is to book a demo. Our team will walk you through the platform, understand how your sites are laid out and recommend the right signage and tag placement. Once your locations are configured, we provide the QR codes and NFC tags ready to deploy.
Is any special hardware required on site?
No complex infrastructure is needed. TapPark works through printed QR codes and NFC tags that are linked to the correct location. There are no meters to install, no cabling and no power supply to manage. This keeps deployment fast and maintenance costs low.
How are individual locations and bays identified?
Each QR code or NFC tag is linked directly to a specific site, zone or bay. When a driver scans or taps, the payment page already knows where they are, so there is no need for the driver to enter a location code manually. This removes a common source of errors and mistyped payments.
Can TapPark scale across multiple sites?
Yes. TapPark is designed to support operators with a single car park or a large estate of locations. Signage and tags can be rolled out site by site, and each location is managed independently so you retain full control over how your estate is configured.
What happens if a QR code or NFC tag is damaged?
Signage and tags are built to withstand outdoor conditions. If a tag is ever damaged or removed, a replacement can be issued and linked to the same location, so the payment experience is quickly restored. We recommend placing more than one payment point per zone for larger sites to provide redundancy.
For drivers
How do I pay for parking with TapPark?
Point your phone camera at the QR code on the parking sign, or tap your phone against the NFC tag. A secure payment page opens in your browser showing the location and price. Choose your duration, then pay with Apple Pay, Google Pay or a debit or credit card. Your parking session begins as soon as payment is confirmed.
Which phones are supported?
TapPark works on virtually all modern smartphones. QR code scanning is supported by the built in camera on current iPhone and Android devices, and NFC tapping is supported on most recent handsets. Because payment happens in your normal web browser, there is nothing extra to install.
What if my phone will not scan the QR code?
If your camera does not open the payment page automatically, make sure you have granted camera access and that the code is clean and well lit. On devices that support NFC you can tap the tag instead. If you continue to have trouble, please contact us and include the location details shown on the sign.
Will I receive a receipt or confirmation?
Yes. Once your payment is complete you will see an on screen confirmation that your parking session has started. Where you provide an email address at checkout, a payment confirmation can also be sent to you for your records.
Payments and security
Which payment methods are accepted?
TapPark supports Apple Pay, Google Pay and standard debit and credit cards. Digital wallets let drivers pay in a single tap using cards they have already saved to their device, which makes checkout even faster.
Is it safe to enter my card details?
Yes. Payments are processed over a secure, encrypted connection through established payment providers. When you use Apple Pay or Google Pay, your card number is never shared directly with the merchant. Card payments are handled by our payment partners using industry standard security practices.
How is my personal information handled?
We only collect the information needed to process your parking payment and to provide the service. Our Privacy Policy explains exactly what we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it and the rights you have over your data. Our use of cookies is described in the Cookie Policy.
What should I do if I am charged incorrectly?
If you believe a payment was taken in error, please get in touch with the date, time, location and amount of the transaction. We will review the session and work with the relevant operator and payment provider to put it right.
Pricing and support
How much does TapPark cost for operators?
Pricing depends on the number of sites and the volume of transactions you expect. The best way to get an accurate quote is to book a demo so we can understand your requirements and recommend the right setup. There is no commitment required to talk to us.
How long does it take to launch?
Because TapPark does not rely on new physical infrastructure, most operators can be live quickly once their locations are configured and signage is in place. Timescales vary with the size of your estate, and we will give you a clear plan during onboarding.
How do I get in touch with the TapPark team?
You can reach us through our contact page or by email at sales@tappark.co.uk. We are always happy to answer questions from both operators and drivers.
